Preparing for Winter

This has been a very busy January for us in Kindergarten!

We began by discussing winter "things" such as changes in weather, clothes we wear, sports and hobbies. We learned about how animals adapt and prepare for winter and then connected it to ways that we also prepare for winter.

We took photographs with our coats, hats, and gloves on, as well as, wrote about ways we prepare for winter. It is displayed outside of our classroom.

We all agreed that one of our favorite things to do in winter is to drink hot chocolate. One cold afternoon we made hot chocolate using hot water and cocoa powder. We were amazed to watch how the clear water changed to brown after stirring in the powder. We added marshmallows and chocolate chips to our hot chocolate for extra flavor! We observed the marshmallows float in the hot chocolate and the chocolate chips sink to the bottom of the cup.
