Weather

Before Spring break, the Kindergartners in Miss Gibbons and Miss Tita's class learned about different aspects of weather. 

Together, we came up with questions we had about weather. 

We found answers to our questions by using different sources: non-fiction books, the internet, and our own observations. 

Outside of our classroom, we created a documentation board displaying our weather questions and answers in our very own words. 

Why does weather change? 

"Mother nature makes weather change. It depends on where the Earth is in the sky."

How does rain come down? 

"Clouds get heavy with water and break open. The rain water on the ground evaporates. That means it turns into air and goes up to the sky to make clouds again."

 What is a cloud? 

"A cloud is something that you see in the sky. It is made of water and air. There are different kinds of clouds. Clouds help tell us what kind of weather we have."

 What is the sun? 

"The sun is a big star and inside is a bunch of gas. The sun is very hot. If we didn't have the sun we wouldn't be alive and we need it to grow."

What is a rainbow? 

"A rainbow is water and sunlight. It is made after rain. There are seven colors in a rainbow."

What is a tornado?

"Cold air comes down and hot air goes up and mixes together. They make a funnel cloud. It is only a tornado when the funnel cloud touches the ground."
